I met an beautiful girl many years ago called 'Tamoura' - not sure if the name is Chinese/Asian in orgin? Her mum was from China and her Dad European.

I don't know who she spelled the name? It sounded like Tamoura.

Could it be Tamara?

I don't.

I've not heard of Tamoura personally, only Tamara but as you say it could be Chinese so not common around these western parts!

There is a town in Australia - Temora

There was a Tamora in Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus. She was Queen of the Goths (as in Visigoths etc... rather than Emogoths Smile). She's a fantastic character, though she did end up eating her sons in a pie. A nice portrayal

To me, it doesn't sound like a Chinese name at all. It's quite unusual to have three syllables in the given name. Possibly more Japanese or Kiwi. But more chance of it being linked to the above European spelling.
