We are stuck! Everything we like is v popular. Not helped by the fact we both work with children & have vivid memories of certain namesBlush

Not to start /end in an A. Not to start witha C or H. not to be too common!

TIA :)

Boy or girl?

firefly101 · 25/08/2010 18:28

There's a list of 50 Victorian Boys and Girls nameshere

Esther and Lawrence don't have those letters you are looking to avoid.

Thanks for the link , google is NOT my friend today!

Assuming you've gone through all the 'traditional' names -

Edwin/Edward/Edgar (v edwardian!)

Oscar (Wilde)

Arthur
Bertie
Wilfred
Percy, Stanley, Reginald, Walter (none of which I'd choose personally, but they're that period)

Girls

Flower names very victorian/edwardian but also popular now - Lily, Poppy, Rose etc

Adelaide, Florence

nymphadora · 25/08/2010 18:46

I like Edward but again it's getting popular ( bloody twilight has loads of good names!)

Just wrote off Florence due to popularity & Tories!

Surname is a pita as loads don't go with it. Dds names are Edwardian & earlier so trying to match up a bit but inspiration is lacking Blush

Oh I've just noticed the Cameron name thread Grin

Tilly (Matilda)
Elspeth
Beatrice/x (always makes me think of Fergie though)
Mary (not popular at all nowadays for some reason)
Lots of Mary-anns in my family tree
Susan

I like Edward too. There were a lot of names starting with 'ed...' but my brain can't go beyond ones already mentioned. Oh, Edmund!

gallicgirl · 25/08/2010 20:02

Would Emmeline fit?

A family friend called her DD this several years ago and at the time I really wasn't sure of it but I think it's lovely now.

nymphadora · 25/08/2010 20:32

I love Matilda( Tilly ) but doesn't go v well with our surname. Maybe if we practice it Wink

Doesn't anyone want to suggest Victoria and Edward or is that just me? [terribly unhelpful emoticon]

NoahAndTheWhale · 26/08/2010 22:02

My granny (born in 1914 so nearly Edwarian) and older brothers were called

Edna, Edgar and James (known as Jimmy).

She never liked her name btw Smile
