For our 2nd Ds.

I Love Lachlan, Dp Loves Arran.

He hates Lachlan, I don't mind Arran.

Neither of us are willing to budge.

I feel I should get final say as he named his eldest son (my Dss) and had the final say on our 1st Ds's name.

Looks like we won't get to use either if we can't come to a decision so will have to go right back to the beginning and find a name we both like?

Any suggestions? (On names or on getting Dp to back down Grin )

Other Ds's names are Jacob and David. Remember they where both Dp's choices though.

I wanted to call Jacob, Noah but dp was having none of it and tbh quite glad now.

I really like Otto, Lorcan and Malachi but I know Dp won't go for these at all.

I also like Ezra, Cassius, Arlo.

See it's not like I'm not giving him names to think about but he replies "No chance" to anything I suggest.

OH god poor you, my DH was just like this, until he set upon 'the name' and has claimed it ever since as being all him choosing the name Hmm

lifeas3plus1 · 19/08/2010 21:52

I'm starting to grow more attached to 'Baby Boy No Name' actually. Good job really as that will probably end up being his name. Grin

I was going to say Noah, my ds2's name. Ds1 is Lewis?

Rhys
Morgan
Jonah
Caleb
Devon
Riley
Evan
Dominic
Finlay
Adam

lifeas3plus1 · 19/08/2010 22:09

Phoenix, Noah is a gorgeous name but he really is a Jacob now.

Lewis was also on the list for him but there was a reason we didn't use it..... Can't remember why now so can always go back and re-visit that one.

Out of your list there is only a couple we could use.

Rhys- Dp thinks it sounds incomplete Hmm
Morgan- This can go on the list.
Jonah- An family members (not very nice ex)
Caleb- I love it, Dp doesn't.
Devon- We Live here
Riley- Added to List
Evan- See Rhys
Dominic- This was what my (adopted) Dp's birth parents called him so he hates it.
Finlay- I like this, On the list
Adam- My brother is called Adam.

Can you see my problem. Confused

Oh good! I am so pleased you like them :)

horatia · 19/08/2010 22:23

(should also have said you're very welcome!)

Lionstar · 19/08/2010 22:27

You can have my unused list:

Keir (I LOVED this, DP not so much)
Ethan
Garth (DPs contribution)
Gareth
Osian
Evan
Euan
Eden
Gregory
Aron
Bryn

A mixed bag!

lifeas3plus1 · 19/08/2010 22:33

How would you pronounce Keir? Just like it's spealt?

Garth Brooks? My mum loves him. She'd be well happy lol.

I like Osian, Evan and Eden.

Another problem I have, is we live in a very "Chav" (I know, I know, shoot me now) dominated area so more than half the names I like would get mispealt, mispronounced or just generally sneered at.

When introducing Jacob, I've had comments like "That's unusual" "Is it foreign" and "Where's that name from?" Shock

Thanks for sharing your boys names. Interesting as I had assumed from your op that you were into Celtic names.

Your DH seems to go for Old Testament names. Does this appeal to you? I assume if you once liked Noah, you aren't averse to it.

Alternatively David can also go a more classic e.g. Andrew, Edward, Robert, but from your op this sounds too middle of the road.

It's a toughie.

How about saying to your DH:
"DS is going to be Lachlan unless you can think of a name that I like more?" It's a hard ball strategy, but where I am at with DH at the moment. Grin I don't fully mean to follow through on the threat, but I have longer to go than you.

lifeas3plus1 · 19/08/2010 22:35

*Spelt& haha.

OP posts:
Lionstar · 19/08/2010 22:37

Pretty much like it's spelt, sort of Key-er. After Keir Hardie (one of the founders of the Labour party, so probably no good if you are a raving Tory!)

LOL at Jacob being unusual, they are 10-a-penny round here.

nelly83 · 19/08/2010 23:22

What about Reuben, Rainen, Alexander, Harrison, Oliver?

cityangel · 20/08/2010 00:28

I like Horatio's ones Lorcan is a good combination

What about Laurence

mathanxiety · 20/08/2010 05:24

I like SpiderWilliam's approach.

SpiderWilliam · 20/08/2010 09:53

Grin thanks mathanxiety

lifeas3plus1 · 20/08/2010 10:53

Well, I text dp a list of the names and he text back with "hmm, let's just wait until the baby is born shall we?"

The baby will never get named if we wait until then.

I've devised a plan, I'm going to wait until the very first minute he's passed to dp after he's born, then I'm going to cry and say "oh doesn't he look like a Lachlan?" by which point I'm hoping he'll be so smitten and get the same look in his eye's as he did when holding Jacob for the first time that he won't care what the baby is called.

Grin

Although I'm beginning to love the name Lorcan now.

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 20/08/2010 15:58

So you're both going to wait until the baby is born? Hmm

Lorcan is a lovely name....

diddl · 22/08/2010 16:28

Arlo is lovely.
