What do you expect from a Jonas?

If you meet a baby boy named Jonas, what to you expect from him? I mean, what sort of personality, background and parents spring to your mind?

I think it's a nice name. Not chavvie, fairly conservative but not boring. Jonas conjures up a child who is fairly placid and laid back- god knows why I think that though!!

I knew a Jonas in Uni- tall, broad shoulders, genuinely nice guy, fairly clever, a good all rounder!

He was laid back and from a close family- had three sisters, very protective!

I would expect them to be Scandinavian, tall and blonde. But hopefully not like Jonas basshunter who is v handsome but into awful music and lots of women!

Laid back, well built, with parents who travelled before settling down.

Is Jonas Basshunter his real name?

No! His first name is Jonas, no idea of his surname.

Possibly a Scandinavian background, middle class parents, interested in school, sporty, polite, nice boy

As I have an 8y daughter, it just reminds me of Jonas brothers from Disney.

Many thanks for all your comments, good to know that "laid back" was the most cited association.

DH and I were strongly inclined to name our baby Joachim, but we were a bit concerned about pronunciation and the several spellings of the name. When he was born, I thought he looked like Jonas, and in the end that's the name we chose (we wanted something that would work in several languages - maybe that's why LynetteScavo associated it with travelling parents?).

Three months on, I can tell you he is definitely a very laid back baby (and I think he's very clever, but who believes in a mothers opinion?). It's good to know that the name brings up nice associations.

The only thing is that we are not Scandinavian and he is not blonde and tall, but maybe he can grow up to have broad shoulders :)
