Im currently 18 weeks pregnant and desperately trying to think of a boy name which goes well with our DS who is 5. Ive got my scan in a week or so and am totally convinced its another boy but am really struggling with boys names.

DS is William George so something along those lines would be great. Our surname begins with H so although I love Henry and Harry both those don't really go.

So far the only name me and DH agree on is Joseph but am due middle Jan and DS was a month early so there is a fairly good chance this one will come christmas time so am worrying that Joseph is a bit too much lol!

I also like names that I can shorten-DS is William but is called Will most of the time!

Middle name would probably be Edward and the only ones we have really considered are:

Joseph Edward
Alexander Edward
Thomas Edward(which DS loves but our surname ends with an S and it doesn't flow very well!)

Out of those which sounds the best?? Am seriously wishing we hadn't picked George as a middle name for DS cause that would have been perfect (apart from the fact I can't shorten it!)

Oh wow! We are also considerng Thomas Edward and Alexander Edward for our son due in November. I love Alexander, Edward and Thomas. Joseph is also nice but I prefer the other three.

Other names we are considering: Maxwell, Samuel, Felix (!). George is also great, shame you can't use that.

I think if I had to choose - it would be Thomas Edward.

James
Jonathan
Joshua

Josiah instead of Joseph?

I think I would be more inclined to associate Nicholas, or even Gabriel, with Christmas than Joseph (lovely, lovely name). Joseph only has a cameo role at Christmas.

I love Joseph Edward. Alexander is nice too.

Edward was the name that popped into my head at the start of you post: does it have to be in the middle?

Others:
Royal names: Phillip, Charles, Andrew, Peter, James

Tank engines: Thomas, Percival/Percy, Gordon etc

Other old fashioned: Michael, Robert, Rupert, Alexander, Samuel, Christopher, Richard, Theodore, Piers

Fantastic-thats really helpful! Will get DH to look through that list and see if there is anything that he likes as well!

Good to know that none of my choices are bad lol! DS would be very very pleased if we called him Thomas for fairly obvious reasons...he has suggested Mavis or Clarabel for a girl lol!!

Emmy-thats a bit spooky that we share similar tastes! I like Max as well but its already a name in the family so thats not really a possibility.

Glad that Joseph isn't too bad at christmas...I really like it and so does DH which is very unusual for us to both like the same thing!

onimolap-Glad you share DS's way of thinking lol!!

I like Edward but wondered if with William it was a bit too royal iykwim hence using it as a middle name?

Theodore is fab fab fab but when DH says Theo he sounds a bit like Jonathan Ross so have already vetoed that one lol!
