I know of a boy called Leaf, poor kid.
And I have a lovely friend called Cherish which is unusual.
Must add Lino to my list...Thanks GrumpyPants! Wink

tummytickler · 15/08/2010 10:27

call me mad, but Nutmeg does have a lovely ring to it. (not that i would use it of course!)

onimolap · 15/08/2010 10:33

Following on from Latte, my DS went to nursery with a Capuchine - I couldn't work out if they were honouring the coffee, the monk or the monkey.

I also read a mag article about a mad microbiologist who gave his daughter the middle name of Escherichia.

In my hormonal moments, I considered Coriander and Tarragon.

mathanxiety · 16/08/2010 01:24

Capucine is a lovely and popular French name; I like Cherish too. Much nicer than Verity or Prudence or Temperance or other similar 'names'.

singsinthebath · 16/08/2010 02:23

FrancesJosephina - or Fanjo for short?

Psammead · 16/08/2010 10:37

How about Pantene for a girl?

And Linux for a boy?

Actually, Linux is quite cool.

NorhamGardens · 16/08/2010 11:01

Isn't Lino an Italian name?

LaRagazzaInglese · 16/08/2010 11:03

yes pronounced Lee-no

PosieParker · 16/08/2010 11:04

I know two boys called REd and Seven.

There must be a few 'Jolies' around.

LaRagazzaInglese · 16/08/2010 11:04

and Lief is scandanavian, unless its just Leaf? Confused

LaRagazzaInglese · 16/08/2010 11:05

i know a boy Reno

MrsChemist · 16/08/2010 11:09

Reno is the name of a (male) character in Final Fantasy. In fact, pretty much every character in Final Fantasy has an unusual name.

VinegarTits · 16/08/2010 11:09

Following your coffee theme:

Mocha (boy) nn Mo

Or Tea:

Assam (boy) nn Ass or Sam

catinthehat2 · 16/08/2010 11:16

Banter for a girl

Guarantee for a boy (Nick name Ganty, or Gan''y if you don't bother with Ts)

Giddyup · 16/08/2010 11:30

Chlamydia-Jane

CaveMum · 16/08/2010 15:57

dodgy

[forehead slap]

grumpypants · 17/08/2010 00:53

Grin to cavemum. I shall link this thread next time someone requests an unusual baby name. And be genuinely surprised when they reject Mocha or Pantene.
