Isadora or Aurora

I really love both these names. I love their mythological connection especially.
I'm not 100% sure about using them, however.

Are they just too long and girly?
Will they always be shortened?
Will everyone just think of Disney when they hear Aurora rather than the Roman Goddess?

Which one do you prefer and why?
Does anyone have an Aurora or an Isadora who can comment?!

I prefer Aurora - first thougth was a children's book I had as a child, Disney never occurred to me

Isadora rminds me of Isadora Duncan, who dies in aterrible accident, didnt;l she?

skidoodly · 08/08/2010 20:25

Love Isadora, not Aurora so much

thisisyesterday · 08/08/2010 20:26

i prefer Isadora

mathanxiety · 08/08/2010 20:28

She died when the long, elegant scarf she was wearing got caught in her car wheel and her neck was broken when the wheel rolled forward Sad iirc.. Her children also died very tragically, but separately (the car they were in rolled into the Seine).

But I love Isadora -- much preferable to Aurora, which is Disney to me now.

Aurora is a lovely name :) I also like Aurelia.

Isadora is a computer program here

BelligerentGhoul · 08/08/2010 21:22

I love Isadora. Not fond of Aurora but do ike Dawn! I think Aurora always sounds like somebody chewing toffee or something.

Jojay · 08/08/2010 21:22

I LOVE Isadora - such a beautiful name Smile

ladyflapperflop · 09/08/2010 08:58

Looks like Isadora is more popular here!

Does that mean you all think it is useable?

I don't know about a Disney Aurora, who is she?
I had a lovely book as a child, with an Aurora called Rory.

violethill · 09/08/2010 11:05

Prefer Isadora, but very Sad connotations which would put me off

Isadora is a beautiful name.I am seriously considering it for a future daughter.

Aurora is pretty, but has been spoilt by Disney.I'd consider it as a middle name

Theodora is in a similar vein

daisyj · 09/08/2010 13:28

Love Isadora - definitely usable. I know a baby Isadora, and she wears it well.

Aurora not so keen.

comtessa · 09/08/2010 13:31

Isadora is far easier to say.

BuntyPenfold · 09/08/2010 13:43

nn Dora?

mathanxiety · 09/08/2010 16:29

I love Theodosia too.

belgo · 09/08/2010 16:31

Aurora is a tongue twister for many people, and sounds dreadful when said Awowa.

Isadora is far easier to say and very pretty and unusual.

I have an Aurora and have had nothing but smiles at it.

I had no idea about 'Disney' when I chose it, she was born at Dawn and is our little light in dark times so it suits her perfectly!

ladyflapperflop · 09/08/2010 21:53

Isadora is still in the lead then!
I find Aurora v pretty but a bit hard to say!
