both pretty, prefer Scarlett but that's because I know a really cute one!

Both are very nice, Scarlett is quite popular so there may be a few little girls her age with same name, whereas I dont think Alyssa would be quite so common (as in popular rather than chavvy common!!) but is not too 'out there' either, very pretty.

Both nice but prefer Alyssa. Scarlett is a little harsh for me.

I prefer Alicia to Alyssa, and don't like Scarlett.

Dislike Scarlett, and prefer Alice or Alicia or Alexandra (Ali, Alix) to Alyssa (very early 90s imo) -- I also consider it 'downmarket'.
