Here's the shortlist of baby names I'm considering that I generated with Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder. Let me know what you think.

I like Arlo and Cole.

arlo- sounds like a cartoon character
cole- the boy in 6th sense, too american
fergus- sounds ugly
hector- napoleonic soldier
leon-a troublemaker
leonard-grandpa name
leopold- trying too hard, you know he's just going to be called leo

Hector, Cole and Leon sound quite contemporary to me and nice for a little one and a grown up. The others a little dated except for Arlo which to me lacks some credibility (I kind of see vouvrey's point on that one)

Arlo - bit slebby, prefer Arnaud
Cole - yuck
Fergus - love this one
Hector - ok, but a bit too self-consciously urban chic. Prefer victor
Leon - awful. leo is perfect.
Leonard - mmm, ok with Leo for short
Leopold - outrageously poncy but I like it.

I will go against the grain, I love Arlo - definitely my favourite from your list.

Leopold is a great name. It's one of DS1's MNs. I also like Arlo (have you ever seen Justified? There's a redneck called Arlo in that) and Hector. Cole, Fergus, Leon and Leonard are a no for me.

Fergus Arlo (unless your surname is Thompson) or Arlo Fergus.

Arlo -- nice, maybe a bit 'now'
Cole -- very nice, I like it a lot
Fergus -- again very nice, like a lot
Hector -- very nice
Leon -- nice
Leonard -- meh, don't like Len or Lenny except as a girl's name
Leopold -- very nice, like a lot

I also like Leo

So, Cole, Fergus, Hector and Leopold
