Valo for a boy?

We really like Valo (it means light in Finnish).

What do you think, is it too odd?

Cant be shortened, which is good, dont think it could be turned into a nickname either.

We already have a DD called Megan.

It's odd if you're not Finnish. Seems quite outlandish compared to Megan, which is fairly popular I think.

Yes Megan is quite a normal name.

It will be shortened to Val, which is ok.

If you don't have a Finnish connection though you will be constantly asked.

Is it pronounced like halo with a v?

Rhyme it with allo.

Thank you for your opinions, I keep thinking of more common names and then coming back to this. I guess we could always use Valo as a middle name. My DP likes Myles too.

Maybe as a middle name, Valo, it just sounds so cold. I'd go with Myles.

I like Lucien and Megan together.

My son's name means 'light' - Anwar (arabic) but it might be a bit weird if you don't have any arabic family (bit like a finnish name then...)

Myles is nice (personally I prefer Miles spelling).

Not so keen on Valo. How about Milo, Leo, Alonso, Carlo, Vito, Vincent or Victor?
