Expecting DS 2.

Had decided on Alex but now having some doubts.

Have quite a short surname.

Also quite like Calum, Angus (DH doesn't )- DH likes Leo and Kyle (I'm not so keen!)

DS1 is Charlie.

We also have a lot of friends with small children so all the popular names already used IYSWIM and keen not to go with one of those.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I like Alex and think it goes with Charlie - also sounds good with short surname i.e. Alex Ross / Alex jones etc.
Stick with it!

Nice name, prefer it to the other 4 names you mention.

I like Alex and Leo from your options so far. Or how about

Evan
Reuben
Dylan
Fergus
Thomas
George
Aidan
Daniel
Jacob
Aaron
Samuel
Elias
Jo shua
Ethan
Liam
Lewis
Maximilian/Max
Sebastian/Seb
Niall
Gregory
Luke
James
David

Not that keen on Alex as it is quite common amongst both boys and girls. With a short surname, I'd choose a 2 syllable first name that isn't shortened, like

Angus
Quentin
Tristan
Rory

I know brothers called Charlie & Alfie and i think they sit well together.

Alex is nice and goes well with Charlie.

I have a calum so like that obviously but not sure it goes with charlie. depends if that matters to you.

Thanks all for comments and suggestions.

Will have a wee think.

Do agree that Alex does sound quite nice with Charlie. Not sure what's causing the uncertainty. Maybe it's a pregnancy thing, as I can barely decide what to have for dinner most days!

Kyle's my favourite.

Violet5 · 02/08/2010 07:52

I love Kyle, but then i would as i have a gorgeous little man who is 6 called Kyle

I also love Callum as it's name we've just chosen to call our last little boy when he arrives in 19 weeks

I quite like Alex but its very popular where we live, our primary school has a lot of Alex's.

Ineedsomesleep · 02/08/2010 09:11

Kyle just makes me think of Jeremy Kyle sorry.

Love Alex and Angus from your list.

firegirl75 · 02/08/2010 17:39

I prefer Alexander to Alex. That also gives you the choice to shorten the name later.
What about Ruaridh? It would go nicely with Charlie...
