JeMeSouviens · 27/07/2010 00:38

Seems a bit eastend and not really a proper name, IMHO

seeker · 27/07/2010 00:56

Why does it matter? If her baby had beed born two weeks after yours they ould still have the same name,,,,,

Call him Archibald, though, if you must - Archie is not a good look in the birth certificate!

JuJuu · 27/07/2010 01:03

If her baby had been born 2 weeks after mine I'd be highly annoyed
Kim Marsh named her baby Archie too.

Must stop reading celeb mags!

Noooo to Archibald!!

Sod sleb mags. All I see when someone mentions Archie is a car lot owner letching about the square.

Alouiseg · 27/07/2010 01:22

I've got a 12 year old Archie. We've never met another one.

beccagrace2 · 27/07/2010 08:39

our archie is 7, have never met another either! Right now he is swinging from the tallest tree in the garden,in his jammies, and yelling weetabix at the top of his voice...mad!

saintlydamemrsturnip · 27/07/2010 08:47

An 11 year old Archie here. Never met another one until recently when I seem to be tripping over them. Danielle Lloyd is blardy awful isn't she?

thatsnotmymonkey · 27/07/2010 08:49

archie and jack and ollie, do we really need another boy called one of these names?

Ineedsomesleep · 27/07/2010 08:51

Don't think she has ruined it but Archie and Alfie are very, very popular names at the moment.

I agree with the other posters that it sounds more like a nn than a proper name but that is just my personal taste.

If you like the name then still use it, what other people think shouldn't put you off any name.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 27/07/2010 08:52

Having said that i haven't come across another archie in any of my kids schools.

PosieParker · 27/07/2010 08:53

Lots and lots of Archies in Bristol....loads.

beccagrace2 · 27/07/2010 09:07

we are in the south west and every boy atm seemes to be william, loads of them, every where, and many have a big brother james.

Ineedsomesleep · 27/07/2010 09:20

Saintly, all the ones I know are under school age.

CharlieBoo · 27/07/2010 09:33

Ahhhh I like it, there is one in my Ds' class, he is 5. I don't know any others.

CakeandRoses · 27/07/2010 10:38

It's a bit like saying has Jordan ruined the name Jayden by using it for her son (not that she has).

CakeandRoses · 27/07/2010 12:44

Sorry, just realised that sounded bitchy. I just meant that Archie is the kind of name Danielle Lloyd would go for, it's not a surprise so I don't think it's changed anything about how the name is viewed these days.

I think it's different to older Archies/Archibalds named before the whole old-man-name fad happened tho.

sonniebonnie · 27/07/2010 13:03

Archie/Alfie/Charlie type names are overdone and too common imo.

If you must, use Archibald on bc.

jellybeans · 27/07/2010 14:34

I know loads of them (mostly all babies but 2 at DDs school) and only one is Archibald on the cert. I like nn as names if it's a strong name..ben, Sam, Zac, Jack, Joe etc but anything with 'ee' sound at the name sounds a bit boyish. Still it will probably be the norm when they are men so won't be a problem.

rachel234 · 27/07/2010 15:16

It has possibly been 'ruined' by the sheer volume of little Alfie/Archies out there to the extent that it may well date badly when it goes out of favour.

JuJuu · 28/07/2010 21:40

Thanks. I think it's off the list now.

OP posts:
Ineedsomesleep · 30/07/2010 13:49

So what's on the shortlist now JuJuu? Have you added any others?

jujuu · 31/07/2010 23:25

Hi, I think I like Noah. Haven't mentioned it to DH yet so he'll probably veto it!

Any suggestions for me??

OP posts:
LaundryLyne · 31/07/2010 23:33

I quite like Noah. How about

Joshua
Luke
Elliot
Adam
Daniel
James
Liam
Dylan
Aaron
Jacob
Thomas
Edward
Isaac
Alexander/Alex
Charles/Charlie
Frederick/Freddie
Maximilian/Max

Ineedsomesleep · 01/08/2010 07:36

Noah is lovely, hope your DH doesn't veto it, mine vetoed so many.

bigstripeytiger · 01/08/2010 07:40

I think Noah is much nicer than Archie.
Noah is beciming very popular too, but not to the same extent as Archie, and to me Noah is a stronger name.
