I just wondered.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

5DollarShake - Yeah, that's what I meant, I wasn't feeling too coherent yesterday...

Interesting reactions, overall. I can see why you might not like it. I already have a Celeste so it might be a French step too far! I just think French girl's names are so gorgeous.

Yup I thought it was Odd-ette. I did learn ballet but in Lincolnshire!

valiumSingleton · 27/07/2010 14:39

an odd little french girl

MajesticScallop · 27/07/2010 19:55

Snap on Celeste, I don't think Odette goes at all with it.

BoyMeetsWorld · 05/10/2012 20:01

Love it but hubby days def no - & he's french

AlexanderS · 05/10/2012 20:08

I used to know an Odette. It never got shortened to anything. It's nice, though definitely associated with the French - my mate had French ancestry.

KatieScarlett2833 · 05/10/2012 20:09

I like it

javotte · 05/10/2012 20:39

It is a very dated French name. I don't think it will ever come back.

badtime · 05/10/2012 20:40

Makes me think of SOE operative Odette.

Nice pretty name

spudmasher · 05/10/2012 20:42

Much prefer Odelia.

RillaBlythe · 05/10/2012 20:55

Makes me think of the chain of bars in Manchester - there are three - Odd, Odder, Oddest.

She shagged my boyfriend, then told me it was non of my business when I politely asked him if she had. Actually, it was my business, because I needed to know whether to throw him out of my flat or not.

Ottily is much, much nicer.

LynetteScavo · 05/10/2012 21:43

Asked her.

He confirmed it. Which is why we never married and made babies.

SamSmalaidh · 05/10/2012 21:47

I love it, I know an Odette. I think Celeste and Odette are lovely together too.

ulissey · 07/10/2012 21:45

It is true that Odette is outdated, but it might be just old enough to start coming back. The Odettes I know are in their sixties, and from rural places. I love Ottilie (which is Odile in german) because of that fantastic novel by Goethe, it is very romantic to me.Odile is a nice name, but definitely from the 1960's in France.

persephoneplum · 08/10/2012 12:42

It's my middle name - I love it and wish it were my first name. It goes beautifully with Celeste - you have gorgeous taste :)

shoppingtrolley · 08/10/2012 14:19

It's good! If you like it and say it confidently, it will work.

LittleWub · 08/10/2012 14:25

Not sure. What about Odessa? I know 2 people (they are related) called Odessa, they are 60 and 20 something. They both really like their name.

jkklpu · 08/10/2012 14:28

I prefer Odile Smile

PurplePidjin · 08/10/2012 14:34

PidjChick would have been Odette nn Etta if he weren't a boy. Odile is the evil one iirc!

I'm saving it in case of PidjChick II Wink

Darn Sarf here it's pronounced Oh-Debt if that helps...
