It sounds quite nice, but reminds me of "Nah....." as slang for no. I do like similar names like Tahlia and Dahlia though. Could it be a nickname for Natalia?

JoannaLewis · 26/07/2010 00:07

Sounds like Narnia but with a blocked nose.

I'd definitely say Nah to that one

PaintingTheFence · 26/07/2010 00:25

How about Nadia?

Kathleen123 · 26/07/2010 10:36

Cute name. I think of Halle Berry's daughter.

I personally think its too closely linked with a celebrity child.

Colliecross · 26/07/2010 10:41

It's a bit nah nah nah na-na if you know the sing-song thing I mean

GladioliBuckets · 26/07/2010 14:46

Gnarlier than Natalia.

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 26/07/2010 14:53

Prefer Dahlia. But that's a whole different name, & pronunciation. Maybe Nahlia would grow on people; I've never heard it before & you get used to a name when you get to know the child.

But yes, you would have to cope with spellin git all the time. Gnarly is my DS's favourite word atm and Nahlia sounds incredibly too close.

Bagpusstree · 26/07/2010 17:24

I like it, I have a similar on my names list of Nahla- its Arabic methinks.

Rockbird · 26/07/2010 22:29

Just go with Nadia or Thalia and have done with it. Nahlia sounds daft.

Kathleen123 · 27/07/2010 10:23

Thalia is very pretty.

Colliecross · 27/07/2010 10:31

How do you pronounce Thalia?
I have often wondered - I had a children's book with a Thalia in and the other girls thought her name was Failure - because she wasn't a boy.
But my mum says Thall-eye-ah. Which is right?

GladioliBuckets · 27/07/2010 12:33

Taaaahl ya.
It's Greek and they usually stress the 2nd from last syllable. (Thalia was the muse of comedy)
