seeker · 26/07/2010 07:02

I think it's Winifred.

I know a Freda.

seeker · 26/07/2010 07:03

Actually, I know it's Winifred!

Hedwig3 · 26/07/2010 09:37

Skinny Winnie (if she's thin, obviously)

5DollarShake · 26/07/2010 10:28

I have never seen it spelt with 2 'n's. Can't think of any other nicknames, but it is a nice name.

mopsyflopsy · 26/07/2010 10:50

"if SHE's thin"

I thought Winifred/Winfred is a boys' name .

hellokitty123 · 26/07/2010 10:59

I also think of Winifred as a boys' name. Nicknames could be Freddie, Fred, Win, Winnie.

seeker · 26/07/2010 11:28

No - Winifred is never and has never been a boy's name - please don;t give people ideas! Are you thinking of Wilfred?

happyland · 26/07/2010 11:33

Winifred definitely a girls name! Love it

mopsyflopsy · 26/07/2010 12:43

I must be mixing it up with Winfred, the boys name.

Colliecross · 26/07/2010 12:50

Thank you all - I've never heard of Winfred. I don't want a unisex name tho.

OP posts:
seeker · 26/07/2010 13:11

It's not even slightly unisex, honestly. But it does have only one "n".

PosieParker · 26/07/2010 13:12

Winnie.....love it love it love it!!!

usualsuspect · 26/07/2010 13:12

Its awful

sonniebonnie · 26/07/2010 13:19

Sounds masculine to my ears, I think due to the -fred ending. Not keen, sorry.

Rockbird · 26/07/2010 16:17

Awful name, no redeeming features at all, sorry.

PuppyMonkey · 26/07/2010 16:25

Eek, it's truly horrid sorry.

LetThereBeRock · 26/07/2010 16:34

It's terrible.

ruthosaurus · 26/07/2010 17:06

One n, girl's name, and good lord, no. Proper old lady name, that is.

Raeven · 26/07/2010 17:09

My grandmothers name was Winifred and she was always known as freda

PaintingTheFence · 26/07/2010 17:50

Winifred is a girls' name.

Manfred, Alfred and Wilfred are boys' names.

I have never heard of Winfred.

5DollarShake · 26/07/2010 19:57

Never heard of Winfred or Winnifred either.

Winifred is a girl's name - was my great aunt's name.

seeker · 26/07/2010 23:37

I've had a go at finding out who St Winfred was, and have failed. However the never to be forgotten hit "There's no one quite like Grandma" was sung by the choir of St Winfred's School - so he must have existed!
