I love the name Ethan and am very very slowly bringing dh around to it (I really do not like anything else).
I have liked it for a long long time now - way before Danni Minogue came up with it for her little man.

Do you reckon I could still name my lo Ethan or are hundreds of thousands of Ethans going to pop up everywhere now? (damn her!!)

Anyone know of anything similar? Wits end!!

I still really like Ethan and also like Evan. In fact prefer Evan to Ethan. I think if you try and avoid celebrity baby names you might be avoiding some really lovely names. Admittedly most names chosen by celebrities are horrendous but just because they choose a nice one, don't feel like you can't use it.

And I do like the Minogue - she's inoffensive enough. I just worry that folk are going to think I've developed a new love for her or something! Ha ha!

She chose a totally normal name. And anyway, I know she did playboy, but she's hardly Jordan or a former big brother contestant!

What about Nathan if you do decide to avoid having the same name as Danni minogue's son. The child's sur name will be Smith, not Minogue so she really wasn't trying too hard! nobody could accuse her of that.

Ethan is fine. I wouldn't have thought of Kylie Minogue. Also there are so many celebs with babies that there's a good chance someone else will have chosen the same name.

Glad nobody thinks Ethan is rubbish so far. Totally going to just go for it. All I need to do now is win over dh on the idea. He thinks it sounds a little frilly. No idea why. Some of the macho blokes at his work poo pooed it, so this might have something to do with it. I am ignoring them!

There are quite a few Ethans around at the mo - I know 6 of them and they are all under the age of 4.
