A latecomer to add to my final list of Florence and Iris....

I think it might be slightly less 'datable' or 'of the moment' as a name which is a good thing i think....

well its my daughters name which my nan picked for her We very rarely call her Jasmine, more jaz or Jazzy, which suit her well.
Just be prepared that people may shorten it

PaintingTheFence · 20/07/2010 17:28

It's a lovely name

Noellefielding · 20/07/2010 17:31

2 in ds's class of 28. Feels very popular among 9/10 yr olds.

munchkinland · 20/07/2010 17:34

Just had a friend name her baby Jasmine and when I heard it I thought "what a pretty name" not very popular round my way....

minipie · 20/07/2010 17:34

Lovely name. Reminds me of the princess from Aladdin, but that's not necessarily a bad thing (she was gorgeous, and quite feisty )

pregnantteen · 20/07/2010 17:38

im feeling mohammed

KristinaM · 20/07/2010 18:21

I like all your flower names

Palace39 · 20/07/2010 18:23

It's a lovely name, makes me think of summer!

miamix · 20/07/2010 20:50

Agree with Noellefielding, a lot of 9/10 year old Jasmines around here.

Pretty though. And agree with minipie it reminds me of Princess Jasmine! Who was always one of my favourite Disney princesses

pregnantteen · 20/07/2010 22:30

although jasmine is a beautiful name
i also love the name chole

Needanewname · 20/07/2010 22:31

can also be shortened to Min

Tortoise · 20/07/2010 22:32

I like it.
I have a Yazmin.

pregnantteen · 20/07/2010 22:34

how about tamsin?

Lougle · 20/07/2010 22:35

I have a Jasmine. She is almost 3. Love it.

pregnantteen · 20/07/2010 22:41

my friend called her baby boy boris!

flibbertigibbert · 20/07/2010 22:49

i think it's lovely. I'd shorten it to Minnie or Mina rather than Jas though

ShadeofViolet · 20/07/2010 22:53

Im glad I saw this thread. Its my DD's middle name and sometimes i wonder to myself 'what was I thinking - must have been the hormones?' but everyone saying how nice it is had made me warm to it again

boodleboot · 20/07/2010 23:26

i love minnie as a nickname...and our little one will be mixed heritage so most likely dark eyed and dark haired so princess jasmine is a nicee connotation for me...little girls all need a princess to look like!

have to see which she looks like most....

(bet HE looks like a george!!)

"little girls all need a princess to look like!"?

Jasmine a bit boring really IMO. Not my cup of tea.

Do like Tamsin though

boodleboot · 22/07/2010 11:19

what i mean by that is that its nice to have all the different skin colours represented by the disney princesses now....most little girls like princesses and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Jasmine is gorgeous - with nns Minnie, Jazzy, Mina, Jam, Jammy, Smi, Jim etc. Much nicer than the other names on your list - prettier and less common.

Firawla · 22/07/2010 14:50

really pretty

Kathleen123 · 22/07/2010 14:57

Love the name Jasmine, but love Iris even more.

LolaKnickers · 22/07/2010 19:46

agree with noellefielding and miamix - dated to around 10 years ago, along with Amber and other names of that era.

Polly1987 · 27/07/2010 13:06

Sorry, girls - I find it quite chavvy?? Like Jade??
