...please not Chloe just because it Rhymes! I like Zoe but am really not keen on Chloe...

So basically am looking for names with the same "feel" and demographic as Zoe.

Thanks!

Why can't you use Zoe if you like it so much? I like it too and I imagine it's fine for the little girl having two dots over the "e"!!

Phoebe is always the closest match to Zoe for me - prob partly due to the fact that ballerina Darcey Bussell has a 2 youngish daughters called Phoebe and Zoe so they always go together in my mind (and have same feel too and are both Greek)

Would def go for the two dots over the "e" and she would be known as Zo (to rhyme with Jo and Mo) which IMO would be quite a stark alternative to all the frilly and girly names fashionable at the mo

I like the Christian connotations of the name too - having been used in the New Testament (in original Greek) to refer to eternal life in that context

Siloe is similar with likewise Christian connotations, but never used in England.

Zelie/Zelia, Valentina (was at school with that sibset), Ziah, Xanthe, Nina.

Why not Zoe?

LifeOfKate · 21/07/2010 14:11

I'm confused, are you looking for a name instead of Zoe? If so, why can't you use Zoe?
Or a middle name? Or a sister for a Zoe?

If the last one, I have known two families with girls called Zoe and Hannah...

LuluF · 21/07/2010 14:17

I knew someone who had a Pheobe and they were having DD2 - among the names they were thinking of was 'Kezia' but they went for Zoe in the end. Phoebe and Zoe do sound nice together.

LifeOfKate - am almost set on Zoe as a first name which I've always loved (with the dots) but just checking I'm not missing anything I'd not thought of.

Aeldred and LuluF - I love Kezia - v. biblical also.

Pasiphae - love Ziah! particularly with the "h" on the end.
