Do I just have really awful taste in names?

BF and I have discussed names, very casually, and the conversations always end up with him saying, "Seriously?!" as if he thinks I'm joking! I'm not.

Here's my list of names I like, please do tell me if I'm actually just crazy:

Boys:
Nichol
Fyfe
Felix (BF doesn't mind this)
Kerouac (I love this)
Auden
Jethro

Girls:
Kimya
Irene (pronounced eyereenee)
Perdita
Clotilde
Ottilie
Proenza
Belphoebe

Looking at them now, there's not a John or an Emily there. But they're not 'bad' names, are they?

I don't think Tull when I see Jethro, I think Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Not sure I'd use it though.

LMAO at the people saying Auden is a girl's name/unisex-y.

When I posted on here not 2 weeks ago about it for a girl, I got loads of tut-tuts, 'it's a boy name'. Incredible.

I am related to someone called Jethro. In the adult world it really isn't so bad as far as I can see.

I am undecided about Auden, Kimya and Fyfe - havent heard before would have to get used to.

I think you need to find a name to meet in the middle. Maybe give the list of your favourites to you bf for him to get used to!

Are there no Kenyan names besides Kimya and Akoth? Does it have to be one or the other?

I like Irene (but love Irina), Clothilde (with the H added), and Ottilie from your girls' names, and Felix from the boys'. Auden is nice, but I like Arden better.

I think you could probably get away with Felix or Jethro from the boy's list.

I LOVE Irene (DD was this for a day or two, it's now her middle name). Beautiful sound and beautiful meaning. But people will say "like Irene Handl?" when you tell them. Just a warning.

I think Clothilde and Ottilie could grow on me.

But maybe best put the rest down to hormones.....
