I love both of them
Do you prefer Hannah or Anna
And what about Louisiane

Anna is a classic, and quite underused these days. I love it. Hannah is also very nice but I'd go for Anna if it were me.

Louisiane on the other hand is not good! She'd spend her life having to spell it out. Sounds like the American state. Louise is a bit blah imo, but that's because almost everyone in the 70s had it as a middle name

Haliborange · 18/07/2010 09:32

I think Anna is increasing in popularity atm, but that's because it is a nice name. It's still nowhere near as common as Ella/Isabella/Bella/Grace/Esme/Ruby etc.
I don't like Louisiane, it sounds both frilly and made up.
Agree with Ladymetroland re Louise. It's very middle-name-1975.
I do like Louisa though.

pinkgrapefruitjuice · 18/07/2010 09:33

Anna or Anne, both lovely
Louisa is nicer than Louise

violetsmile · 18/07/2010 10:46

Anna is beautiful, my friend just had a little girl named Annabeth and I wasn't sure at first but now I love it and it suits her so much!

Hannah is nice but Anna is a lovely name on it's own. Not as keen on Louise but it makes a nice middle name!

capucine · 18/07/2010 11:02

I love Annabeth,
my name is Anne, and I love Anna, Annie, but it's a little bit to close of my name.
The father like Anna.
May be we are close to find a name if the baby is a girl.

Anna! Louise is so dated to me!

DrivenToDistraction · 18/07/2010 14:16

I love the name Anna, wanted it for DD. But, IMVHO if your name is Anne then Anna isn't really an option it would seem that you were naming her after yourself. I know people do but, frankly, I think it's a very odd thing to do.

I like Louise but it is a wee bit dated, how about Louisa?

valiumSingleton · 18/07/2010 14:20

I prefer Anna to Hannah.

I like Louise and Louisa, but Louisana is a bit too much.

Anna Louise is beautiful.

DrivenToDistraction · 18/07/2010 14:21

OP, did I read it right? Are you, in fact, called Anne yourself?

valiumSingleton · 18/07/2010 14:22

Oh I see your name is Anne!

I would go for Louisa in the first position then

valiumSingleton · 18/07/2010 14:24

ps, before anybody says men often pass their own name down to a son, I'm not super keen on that either! I think it's confusing if they are in the same house. I like the idea of having a grandparent or great grandparents name somewhere in your name though.

But Anne and Anna, that would be confusing for your husband and for your parents and in laws.

Alouiseg · 18/07/2010 14:24

I'm Anna Louise. And I'm great

letsblowthistacostand · 18/07/2010 15:38

Hannah and Louisa basically the two best names ever IMO, I have one of each.

Fayrazzled · 18/07/2010 15:41

Anna- yes
Louise- yes but Louisa even better. If I had another little girl I'd call her Louisa.

FellatioNelson · 18/07/2010 16:59

Agrees Louisa lovely (just that bit more unusual) and Anna lovely - a classic. (not that I'm sucking up or anything Alouiseg.

Also love the Annabeth suggestion. Julia and Juliet are beautiful too.

CapitalText · 18/07/2010 19:09

I like Anna and Louisa.

Haliborange · 18/07/2010 19:34

So am I, Alouiseg. . I'm sure we both rock.

I like Anouk too, such a sweet name.

Kathleen123 · 19/07/2010 10:56

Love the name Hannah. Louisa is also lovely.

Hannah then Louisa.

randomimposter · 19/07/2010 11:27

Anna above Hannah - though both nice.
Prefer this spelling of Luisa.

skyeplusbump · 19/07/2010 19:14

im a louise, ive always thought it a bit blah, would've prefered to be a louisa...much nicer.
also, pepole, including me, shorten my name to lou, all the time...now ive never been bulled, but i do see that it would have been almost TOO easy

i like annabeth the best

flopsy1974 · 19/07/2010 19:35

I like Anna-Louise or Anne-Louise, although I gather hyphens are frowned upon. I also like Anna-Louisa..

I love Anneliese.

liliputlady · 20/07/2010 00:23

I love both Anna and Louise. I think Anna is used a lot more than Louise at the moment, so personally I would choose Louise out of the two.

I don't see Louise as dated at all, but as a timeless classic. It's really feminine without being frilly and silly.

zenoushka · 20/07/2010 16:34

I really Hannah and Louisa.
