I've finally let go of BeauDH would never accept it as a first name.
DH has stopped mentioning his random names too!!

Names we both agree on but can't decide which is the best:

Bay Alexander

or

Rocco Alexander Beau

Bambino is now 10 days old.Getting him registered soon. His big brother is called Ellis.

Also thanks to everyone whos commented on my last thread(a week ago-about dh not agreeing with my choice of name).
Extremely helpful.

I like Rocco!
Bay sounds a bit daft to me I'm afraid.

Cinderellarach · 14/07/2010 22:03

Thanks Loob!Think we're going with Rocco.
Liked Bay as it sounds classic and soft. Also Kirstie Allsopp has it and she seems to have her head screwed on unlike Wags!!

Alexander is only one I like. Dislike Bay and Rocco, sorry!! (and dislike Beau)

Cinderellarach · 14/07/2010 22:23

Do you prefer more traditional type names jellybeans?

Rocco is miles better than Bay although I don't really like either. Is there no other name you can think of?

(congratulations on the new baby by the way!!!)

Cinderellarach · 14/07/2010 23:44

Do you have any names in mind Ladymetroland?
I've been searching for more than 9 months

If you're not married, then definitely make sure that your sur name is in there when you do the birth cert. I let my children have only their father's sur name and I really regret that. Your sur name is a lovely name. Your partner's is quite short. What is your first son's sur name? Both names or just his father's?

I didn't name the sur names in case you want to ask to get your post deleted........

Cinderellarach · 15/07/2010 12:42

That's ok!At the moment my ds1 has just got his fathers surname.
That's where it gets complicated.I need to know how easy it is to change his surname to both of our names.
DH is getting sick of me now and I dare not bring the the conversation of names up.Too much of a headache with arguments.
If I wanted the quiet life I could register bab with just DH's surname(but I would love him to have mine too)

Thanks again

Sort it out now quickly before you register your second son!!

I think you need your partner, (the father's) permission to get your sur name added to your first son's sur name at this stage. Obviously you're in a good position to insist on this before your 2nd son has been given his father's sur name. dyswim?! No comment on your relationship!, or your negotiating skills!, just common sense.... sort it out now while you're in the middle of registering dc2

I really wish I had done this. I am going to start using my sur name too. I have one dc at school and when she goes back next year I am going to label everything with Poppy Gill Sanchez (lol, that's not the actual name!). But supposing it is, her BC just says Poppy Sanchez. I know I can't ever change that, her Father would never agree, but I would like her to become known as * Poppy Gill Sanchez. This is not ideal. But it's the best outcome we can have.

Cinderellarach · 15/07/2010 13:47

Thanks valiumSingleton! You're right I need to sort it out before we register ds2.
He'll be nearly 2 weeks soon and by burying my head in the sand I'm not getting anywhere.
Just wish DH wasn't so bloody highly strung.
Good luck with changing your dd's name and thanks again

How about Malone as a middle name before the surname? It's a great name.

mathanxiety · 15/07/2010 16:08

It's very sensible to have the mum's surname incorporated into the child's name for a lot of reasons -- school, travel (passport control agents can throw a spanner in travel arrangements if they think you're travelling with an unrelated child, depending on what airports you go through), doctors, hospitals, etc.

hellokitty123 · 15/07/2010 22:21

Another vote for Rocco. I think Ellis and Rocco go really well together. They're the same length, equally 'unique' and roll off the tongue nicely together .

Congratulations on ds2!!

Thanks
