Emmanuel - too religious?

Can you give your opinions (no, really) on Emmanuel for ds3? My family are very religious, and I am a bit worried that it is a bit like calling your child Jesus ... what do you think?

I think Emmanuel is going in the opposite direction from Jesus entirely, strangely enough.

I think the name Emmanuelle is synonymous with the soft porn -- anyone born in the 60s or earlier would wonder what you were thinking.

It makes me think of the porn film,though I know it's not quite the same. I don't like it.

I'm a 70's baby and don't know anything about this porn connection, it is off putting though :S far from any concerns about being too religious

I love it - go for it. I don't think it is any more religious than any of the old testament favourites (Samuel, Joshua, Noah, Isaac etc)

I taught an Emmanuel who was known as Mannie at school.he wasnt teased and it was a medium range comp in Wigan.

I've only ever met one Emmanuel. I liked the name at the time, and it suited him. The Emmanuel I've met is Jewish, and so I'd always assumed it to be a Jewish name.

I like Emmanuel and know a lovely (French) one. Wouldn't associate with either religion or porn .
