Please can you help me out with the below...

I'm looking for middle names to go with the following:

Benjamin
Jemima
Jessica
Imogen

Do you think that kids will tease other kids for their first and middle names, e.g. would Benjamin Oliver [surname] get teased with BO or would it only be if our surname started with an O if that makes sense?

Also, can you see any problems with any of the names? Would like to avoid any dodgy associations / negative anythings etc.

Thanks!

Forgot to say have read some negative connotations with Jemima in the USA just not sure how much need to worry about that or not - don't want her growing up and deciding to specialise in American History and then being upset with her name...

I like Benjamin Oliver dont see the problem with BO.

My DH would like Eric as a middle name, but with our surname beginning with a G, if we chose Matthew as the first name, then we'd have spelt MEG in the initials. A definite no.

The lists for middle names are endless, the middle names that I like are as follows:

Benjamin Charles
Jemima Lucy
Jessica Mae
Imogen Marie

Benjamin Rory
Jemima Dawn
Jessica Marie
Imogen Clara

Benjamin Patrick
Jemima Katherine
Jessica Madeleine
Imogen Maeve

I wouldn't use Oliver as a mn for Benjamin -- it only takes one smart aleck to notice the BO connection and you're off to the races.

What letter does your last name begin with Butternut, and what's the negative connotations? I've always liked Jemima but it was yet another name that DH vetoed.

Benjamin Edward
Jemima Puddleduck Lucy
Jessica Elizabeth
Imogen Cristabel

This is what Americans think of when they hear Jemima:

So its basically a product for people who can't be bothered to make batter? Ummm.

butternut234 · 14/07/2010 04:12

I read that 'Aunt Jemima' was considered derogatory and that's why no-one in America calls their kids Jemima...

My last name begins with H

Thanks for all your help so far

Are you in the US? If not, I wouldn't worry about "Aunt Jemima" if that's the name you like.
