Neighbouring Baby Monitors - advice needed please

Hi, my neighbour and I are due witin 2 weeks of each other and live in small terrace houses. We're both worried that each others baby monitors will interfere with the other, esp as we both want to buy the BT 150! We're worried that I'll hear their baby and visa versa. Does anyone have any experience of this? Or maybe using two monitors in the same house, as essentially our two small houses combined would be just one normal sized house!

Actually thinking about it if your house is that small you may not need one!

We have the Tomy Walkabout Monitors. They have around 100 channels so would assume they'd pick up the strongest (i.e. the closest).

We never had any problems with them.

Most baby monitors, even the most basic, have 2 or more channels, in case of interference. So for example if you use yours on channel 1 the neighbours would have to use channel 2.

Just make sure you have the right one - test it first! You don't want to accidentally pick up your neighbours trying for DC2

I have had experience of this- we picked up a monitor around 50 yards up the road- could hear the parents talking and singing to their baby. Also my friend heard me go in to firstborn one night- she lives about 20 yards in a different direction-

I agree- use another band, also- tbh you can usually hear the baby cry anyway! I live in a small terraced house too- had monitors for first 2 but didn't bother with 3rd- I heard her cry anyway.

If you purchase a digital baby monitor then this shouldn't be an issue. The reason is digital baby monitors are specifically coded to a certain frequency and only the monitor and the reciever can recieve a signal from each other.
You might have a problem if you purchase the same model/brand of digital baby monitor as the frequency and coding will be the same, and they might be able to pick each other up. However like stated by BertieBotts there is usually 2-4 channels on baby monitors, so you can pick one channel and your neighbour can pick another.
However if you purchase analogue ones, then you might get some interference from next door, so i would advise paying a little more for a digital monitor - plus the quality is excellent!
