Video monitors - what do you reckon?

We're thinking about buying a video monitor for when DC2 arrives in June.

If you've had one, are you glad you got it and which one would you recommend.

We are definitely going to buy a second, as we still use DD's one with her. I'm just not sure about the extra expense. DH is very keen on getting the video kind.

I have a Safety 1st Video Monitor and it is one of the best things I bought. It has a great picture with night vision, is easy to use and is very mobile as I charge it at night next to the bed and keep it round the house during the day. I have even taken it out in the garden.

I think the video one is a great idea because I can check on her any time without having to keep going into her room.

Oh yes and the other great thing about video is that I can put it on silent at night and if I hear her I can check the monitor without having to get up and out of bed because sometimes she is just stiring for a few minutes then settles back to sleep.

I think DH got it at Argos.

Thanks Irons. That's good to know. It's recommended on here too.

I'd be interested to know how easy it is to position. DC2 will be in a moses basket and I'm not quite sure how I'd point it at him.

I did find it difficult in the beginning with positioning because i had it balancing at the end of the cot and it kept falling off. It does have a zoom option though so if you can't have it right near the basket you could place it on the nearest shelf ect. We now have my daughter's cot next to a cupboard and have attached it to the side of the cupboard and the monitor looks over the whole of the cot.

It has a stand and also a whole thingy to attach to a wall.

Thanks.

Watching with interest as in same position. Has anyone used the Luvion or Lindam ones? And has anyone bought one but found it a bit of a waste of money?
