monitors for car seats and prams?

A friend of mine told me that she had read about a monitor that you can attach to your baby when they are in a car seat or pram to detect movement etc. She can't remember where she saw it though. Yes, I am the most paranoid person in the universe but i have to keep stopping when in the car just to check DS is still breathing, responding etc. Also same when out in pram. If they exist one of these may help me regain some sanity. Well, it's worth a try!!!

Surely the motion of the car/pram would render any such monitor useless? I think you need to work on the paranoia, sorry.

Not sure of technicalities of monitors - clip onto clothing apparently so i am informed. Am currently working on paranoia with combination of counselling and medication but tired of being housebound and thought this might be a short term solution to the problem. Admittedly, i am getting quite desperate so am probably too readily grasping at the proverbial straws.

i honestly don't believe there is any such thing. surely you can see your baby in the pram anyway? if not then get a rear-facing one so you can see the baby.
if you can disable the airbag in your car then you will be able to put baby in the front seat where you can see him/her

I do think, as OLKN says, you would be better to work on your paranoia than try and find gadgets that prey on people who are worried (unnecessarily) about their babies. They only confirm to you that there is a need to have it, when there really isn't.

Stick him in a sling rather than a pram? You'll be able to feel him breathing etc.

Oh and get a mirror to stick on rear window, so you can see them in the car - we got one so we knew when he'd been sick.

Agree with others you need to work on paranoia, which you obviously are doing, but you being housebound isn't going to help matters.

I can't see how the gadgets would work either.

But I'd say it's more important to be paying attention to the baby, not a machine. Can you get a pram where you can easily see him? And then when you're used to that, try the car?

NJ3catsn1dogThere is a device called 'respisence ditto tummy movement monitor'. You clip it on your babies nappy so you can use it in moses baskets and car seats and it detects your babies breathing and will alarm if it doesn't detect movement. I'm thinking of getting one for when i out my baby down to sleep. obviously i will still be checking on my baby but it will just make me feel better knowing its there.
