Tomy Digital TD3000 - parent unit not charging

Does anyone have experience of the Tomy Digital TD3000 (think it's their newest one, with a light for the baby's room)?

I have only had this one 6 weeks and the parent unit seems to have stopped charging. The battery is running out (flashing red and bleeping every minute).

I have looked on the Tomy website and there is no number to call for assistance and it says you need a receipt etc for a replacement. I bought the monitor from John Lewis and can't find the receipt or any proof of purchase.

The parent unit doesn't have normal rechargeable batteries, it has a special Tomy pack which I can't find anywhere on the Internet to buy.

Do you think if I completely run the batteries down it might start charging again?? Any comments gratefully received!!

Thanks
