Ulcerative Colitis Flare

Hi,
Anyone else with Colitis around?

I am not quite at the A&E stage just yet, really hoping not to get admitted this time. Do you think a GP would start Steroids?

IBD team not available on the weekend.

Would love to get some insight from someone else who has had this?

Gastro nurse here, in my trust Gp is unlikely to start steroids without discussion with the IbD team first dependant on the symptoms you are having.
most hospitals have an on call gastro consultant on over the weekend so an ooh gp may be able to discuss with them x

My previous experience is that the Out of Hours GP will send me to A&E and I will wait there until the Gastroenterologist comes back on duty probably on Monday morning. I would be a lot more comfortable at home.

I’m already on a Biologic as well as Methotrexate. Still have at least moderate symptoms.
