Hello everyone

I’m currently undergoing lots of tests and autoimmune has been mentioned.

My symptoms currently are

  • I was extremely poorly two years ago with pneumonia, hospitalised 4 times and not been well since

-non eosinophilic asthma diagnosed

-Allergies

-flare ups of long periods of high resting heart rate. Mine is usually 45-48 but peaks for several months at 60-68

-constant fever between 37.9-38.9

-Fatigue and tiredness

-constantly feeling poorly and unwell

-aching joints.

My bloods came back ok apart from CRP raised moderately and alkaline phosphatase raised moderately.

Has anyone had similar? I’m being referred to the infectious diseases department with possible referral to rheumatology

Fatigue, fever and joint pain are all symptons of rheumatoid arthritis but you would also expect quite high CRP.
I don't know about heart rate but mine is much higher than that.

It's not unknown for a severe infection to trigger RA many years later. My rheumatologist thought mine could be linked to an infection I had 15 years earlier.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was autoimmune with those symptoms and results. My autoimmune disease was definitely triggered by a bout of pneumonia. The problem is though, infection, autoimmune disease and other illnesses can all cause raised CRP and the same set of symptoms, so it’s a case of trying to unravel it all. I know that I saw several specialists before it was identified as autoimmune.

Hope you get answers soon though OP, sounds like you’re having a really miserable time of it at the moment. 💐

That sounds really tough to deal with, especially with everything going on over such a long period. It’s good that you’re already being referred to the right specialists so they can properly investigate what’s causing these symptoms.
I hope you get some clear answers soon and start to feel more like yourself again.
