Guttate psoriasis

Hi all,

Just needed a bit of a vent and maybe some advice/support if anyone’s been through similar. I’ve had psoriasis for 20 years now (since I was 12) and I’m on a biologic – CIMZIA – which has kept things mostly under control. But a couple of weeks ago I had a horrible case of tonsillitis, which resulted in me ending up in hospital, and ever since then I’ve had the worst flare of guttate psoriasis I’ve ever experienced. I’m covered head to toe and honestly feeling so down about it.

To make matters worse, I’m supposed to be going on holiday on 19th May with my partner and our little boy (he’s 6 months old). I should be excited but I just feel devastated – I really don’t want to go feeling and looking like this.

I’ve got a home UVB bed arriving on the 8th and I’m hoping that might help at least a little in the 11 days before we fly. I’ve also just started taking a probiotic in the hope that it might support my skin from the inside too.

Has anyone had a similar flare and managed to calm it down quickly? I know there’s no magic cure, but if anyone has any success stories or tips for clearing guttate psoriasis fast(ish), I’d be so grateful.

Thanks so much for reading
x

I usually get some relief from baths with Dead sea salts/epsom salts so it might be worth a try.

Hi OP, sorry I only just read your message but I hope you managed to enjoy your holiday. I just wanted to say that I have been in the same situation with guttate flares and it is so difficult. I have had psoriasis for 40 years, it is mainly plaque but have had a couple of guttate flares over that time following throat infections and I live in fear of exactly the scenario that you describe. Did your skin calm down? Sometimes with psoriasis I just don't know what helps and that feels so frustrating. It feels like nothing does. I am also trying probiotics currently to see if they do anything, which are you trying? It is early days for me on this one so I will see.
