Hi, I’m looking for advice please.
Ive had this rash for 4 weeks.

have been to the doctors countless times, I’ve been prescribed 40mg of prednisone which I’ve been taking for just over 3 weeks and with fexofenadine.

I feel very unwell with flu like symptoms, aching joints etc.

the rash is spreading more extensively by the day.
I’m a rheumatology appointment which is on 19/05.

Im really struggling.

any advice please?

Looks like my psoriasis.

Crispynoodle · 05/04/2025 22:27

Could it be a psoriasis rash and possible psoriatic arthritis?

FavouritePJs · 05/04/2025 22:28

Are you on any other medications? I had an awful
allergic reaction to the first rheumatoid arthritis drugs i was put on, I had awful flu symptoms and a rash, I was as weak as a kitten. Could this an allergic reaction?

I went to the ED department and the dr daid it doesn’t look like an allergy rash. He mentioned lupus

I have Lupus and it does look like the rash I had pre diagnosis. Not 100% sure but I think mine was triggered by the sun. I was covered head to toe by the time I got to see a Rheumatologist but a combination of Hydroxychloroquine and a strong steroid cream got it under control very quickly and sorted out the fatigue and aching. Not come back since touch wood.

Have you had a sore throat? I get guttate psoriasis after a strep infection and it looks just like this

Pixiedust1234 · 05/04/2025 23:43

Yes, mine looked like that. Only my GP sent me to Dermatology first for help in calming the rash and they did a biopsy to confirm lupus. Took another seven months before Rheumatology could see me due to a long waiting list so I'm incredibly grateful I got sent to Dermatology first.

EDIT - I found this regime offered me the most respite but I had to let the rash continue until it had run its course.

Fexofenadine in morning.
Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride at night (it's an old fashioned antihistamine that also knocks you out so you can actually sleep).
Steroid tablets for approximately 5 months.
Lots and lots of moisturising - I found Childs Farm baby moisturiser to be the most effective and least greasy.
Painkillers.

Hope you found an answer. Looks a little like erythema marginatum - rash associated with rheumatic fever to me.
