General advice appreciated! Has anyone had low aldosterone results? Just had it pop up on my app and wondering!

I dont have any currently diagnosed autoimmune diseases but i am currently having alot(!) of investigations and many of the things they are looking at seem to fall into this category.

i have been under investigation for protein and blood in my urine constantly (but with no infection . So far i have had a ct scan , a ct scan with the dye two ultrasounds a bladder camera and god knows how many blood tests.

in the middle of all this i starting getting awful headaches and the doctor found my blood pressure suddenly shot up really high (was 230/119). So i am now taking medication for that.

i had a notice in my app today of new test results which showed the picture. So of course i googles low aldosterone. Which came up with low blood pressure and weight loss which i really dont have.

my major symptoms are feeling really exhausted and weak. But until they tested the urine i obviously had no idea about any of that!

a few other blood tests havw been slightly off but tbh as far as i am aware nothing major has shown up!

i have a nephrologist appointment monday and tbh i just wondered if anyone had any experience with this because i want to know the right questions to ask etc!

General advice appreciated! Has anyone had low aldosterone results? Just had it pop up on my app and wondering!

It seems to be indicative of adrenal gland disorders such as Addison's disease:

Are you on any medications OP?
Aldosterone renin ratio is a test for Conn's disease but the results can be false if you are on medication eg spironolactone which lowers aldosterone levels.
Also as mentioned adrenal insufficiency can cause low aldosterone as well as low cortisol levels.

I take ivabradine to lower my heart rate and i now take ramipril for blood pressure although i hadnt started that when this blood was taken!

Ah ok I think ramipril can affect results but as you weren't on it not an issue. Not sure about Ivabradine? I think theoretically it can but not sure. If your blood pressure is high addisons is unlikely so I'm not sure otherwise what the significance of low aldosterone is other than medication related.
