Hi all, I’m 33 and I have all the sines and symptoms of Hashimotos, around 7 years ago I started to have hives all over my body, they would generally start on the sides of my neck and spread all over my body. At the time I didn’t think about my thyroid atall, over the years I just dealt with it, it would flare up when I got stressed. I have always had up and down moods aswell. 2 years ago I had my first child, after suffering a miscarriage a couple of years prior. since I have had my child things have gone really downhill, I have tingling in my hands and feet very regularly, feels like I have something stuck in my throat,it feels like a button done up too tight. My shoulders absolutely kill and I have depression quite bad. My toenails have fallen off twice since I had my daughter, the dark circles under my eyes are awful. my great grand mother on my mothers side of the family had Hashimotos and my fathers two aunts had thyroid problems, one had underactive and the other overactive. I have really struggled today, I just need some reassurance. My dr has booked me for tests for aito
immu tests and another one I cannot remember the name of because I am very forgetful. Does it sound like I have Hashimoto’s?

I have hashinotos - the symptoms I had are classic overactive thyroid (tiredness, stiffness, pains in joints and muscles, insomnia, dry skin and hair, indigestion...). I also have the feeling of something stuck in my throat but this is reflux (gargle in apple cider vinegar helps).

Thank you for your reply, I also am
very very tired, the indegestion I have had recently is unbearable, only thing that shifted it was a hot bath, I was in agony. I have my bloods on the 15th, I’m hoping and preying it shows up as I have been reading many posts that it doesn’t show up
sometimes. I will try gargleing with apple cider vinegar, Thankyou. I just thought all this was from being a new mam. Now I am 99.9% sure I have hashimotos after reading into things alot more. Do you find some days worse than others?

I'm not sure that you can tell the difference if overactive thyroid is caused by Hashimoto or not as I think the symptoms are the same (as hashimotos means the thyroid is being affected). My consultant tested and called to tell me but it didn't make change to my medication

As them to do a full blood check (they did my vit d as an afterthought and found it was about as low as it could go!).

Thinking of symptoms I has
Exhaustion
Brain fog / forgetfulness
Very low mood
Insomnia
Pain in thighs
Feeling 'heavy' body
Pain in ankles/achiles tendons
Reflux

Thank you for your reply. I will ask them todo full bloods, something is definitely not right. I can sleep 10 hours wake up and still be tired. Why I think it could be hasimotos is because I am having bad depression and I don’t know why.

Hashimotos is the cause of the hypothyroidism - I'm not sure it has any symptoms peculiar to it (I'm not certain but have a doctors appt this evening so I'll drop back with her thoughts!). Someone told me the Achilles tendon aches were a symptom though (I have that bit heel supports seem to be doing the trick for that but I don't want to have to use them for ever - I'm very much a barefoot kind of woman!).

Did you say you have a baby (sorry on the app so I can't see previous posts) - well that's knackering and stressful (I was so sleep deprived in the baby stage I was hallucinating!).

Don't worry - once they find out what's wrong they can fix it (and sometimes you need to really be firm and push for tests and to see a consultant - originally my doctor out it down to age, perimenopause, and suggested I see a therapist and drink herbal tea!).
