Psoriasis at the back of my head driving me bonkers

I've recently developed psoriasis at the back of my head near the bottom the past 6 months or so, its driving me mad. It's so itchy and flaky and I'm worried I'll end up with bald patches. It keeps me awake at night as it can be so itchy and uncomfortable

I've tried various scalp shampoos specifically for psoriasis to try and and help it but nothing seems to be working. Can anyone suggest anything for it?

Have you asked for prescription "enstillar" foam from gp or dermatology? Otherwise avoid shampoos with sls or other sulfates, stop dyeing if you do. Although it is for thinning and balding, I found Nioxin System 1 conditioner to be very soothing.

Enstillar on prescription is the only thing that I find helpful - it’s difficult to apply though and makes your hair look greasy

I’ve found shampoo with Argan oil really helps. I’ve been using the Head and Shoulders Derma pro repair care and it cleared up very quickly.

I've had psoriasis for a very long time. My scalp was the first part of my body to become affected, and was always the worst.

Until ...

... as the previous posters have said, Enstilar.

There is also Betnovate scalp solution, which isn't oily.

(Both have steroids in them which over prolonged usage can thin the skin, but under your hair is less of a problem. Please bear in mind that you should lead in your use of steroid topical ointments gently, use them as little as necessary, and wean off gradually. End of announcement.)

I had psoriasis on my scalp, face and elbows. Had tried loads of stuff. Then I banished all SLS from the house and it cleared up completely. Tried reintroducing an SLS shampoo (my favourite - it made my hair great!) and it was back almost immediately. B

The betnavate scalp solution is easier to apply. Enstillar is very greasy, the spray I have foams up and then you massage it in.

See your Gp.
