What was your t3 and t4?

mumdone · 11/11/2022 17:32

They were not tested

Then they can't say you're 'overactive'. Sorry.

To be hyperthyroid, you need TSH below range and FT4 and FT3 above it. You also need various antibodies checking to identify the cause.

Do you take thyroxine already?

Anjelika · 20/11/2022 09:07

Isn't thyroxine for under active thyroid?

clockapp · 20/11/2022 09:33

@Anjelika yes thyroxine is for under active but it is also used as a treatment for over active when it's been suppressed so much by carbimazole or another thyroid medication it's called block and replace.

Block the thyroid in its entirety and replace it with medication

@clockapp I was hyper for years and took PTU. The doc wanted me to have radioactive iodine treatment which removes the thyroid I think and then I would have needed to be on thyroxine for life so I am aware of it being used to treat ex-overactive thyroid. However from the OP's post I assumed this wasn't the case as they would have mentioned it.

Sorry OP I have nothing to add on your numbers other than I used to rely on T3 numbers to know when mine was out of sync. Mine somehow righted itself after having my DT's! It had been overactive for 7 years prior to that.
