I have had health issues over the years and various suggestions of possible autoimmune disorders, but blood tests have never revealed anything and I have been left to get on with it. It started at 19 with a flu like illness that took a year to go I lost weight and had burning joints fevers and generally felt awful, since then I have had pneumonia, pleurisy, always anemic, and constipated all of my life. Had a tooth out and the dentist said my tissue over stimulates when healing took weeks of him drilling away scar tissue until it healed, just one example of many not normal,s he mentioned connective tissue disease. Now I’m struggling as herniated 2 discs in lower back after a fall, the mri shows they have healed, but I can’t sit or stand my toes are throbbing non stop the pain has me in tears every night, I thought I had chilblains as my toes started to go red Agee months ago, they are also swollen, when I try to sit they go purple, I can barely sit on the loo, has anyone experienced anything like this I’m so desperate, spine consultant can’t see any reason for it but will do decompression surgery to see if it helps, I’m going crazy with this as I don’t knew where to turn next, any advice please

You need to see a rheumatologist and get a full blood work done. Your GP won’t be able to diagnose a connective tissue disorder

Hi there, I have various auto immune conditions and I hear your frustration with the lack of diagnosis. You need to see specialists rather than a gp. Never mention depression or anything pertaining to your female parts; you will be offered anti depressants and written off. Always put it in context of how it impacts your ability to work/earn money.
You don’t mention what you have tried so I will give you a quick run down of basics:
Gluten free, dairy free, A LOT less sugar, LOTS more fibre at least 25g, read up on high fibre food, more protein, less carbs,, switch from white potatoes to sweet potatoes, basic vitamin and supplements, and last but not least some exercise, tough when you feel so rubbish.
You need to not strain your heart and lungs as in nothing that is high intensity but weight bearing is good as is yoga and walking but not running which you probs don’t want to do with your sore toes. Probiotics in the form of sauerkraut if you can tolerate sour things will help you with better functioning gut and it has fibre , vit c and k. Get the refrigerated stuff in a health food shop that has live probiotics not The sterilised kind in the Polish foods aisle.
Your own research into things like post viral fatigue, fibromyalgia etc will be the best source of useful information to improve your health. You’re not alone, there are many forums out there for every autoimmune condition and they are a fantastic source of helpful information. Good luck, sorry if I ramble on 🌺
