I have suffered from an under active thyroid for years and was on a combination of Levothyroxine (T4) and Liothyronine (T3) to treat my symptoms. I’ve just received a letter from my GP this morning however saying that they can no longer fund the T3 due to budget constraints. To put it into context- there’s only one pharma company producing the drug and they’ve put their prices up by 6000%!!! That means a 30 day supply of this drug costs the NHS £250-£300 whereas it costs around £1-£5 a box abroad. I don’t blame the NHS at all for their decision but I wanted to know if anyone knew where else I could get this medication from abroad? I fall under the ECV for COVID-19 and don’t want my health to deteriorate when my current medication finishes. If anyone has any recommendations where I can buy the medication cheaply (I’d need it for life), please do let me know.
Alternatively, can I appeal the CCGs decision to stop funding?
