Total thyroidectomy recovery

Hi I had a total thyroidectomy 4 weeks ago and I still feel awful. I noticed online that most people are back in work within 2 weeks. Is it normal to still be feeling terrible after 4 weeks?

It’s takes time for your body to adjust. I had a TT and bilateral neck dissection last April and it took me 6-8 weeks to recover. It also takes your body a while to adjust and to get the right dose of thyroxine. Be kind to yourself and don’t rush back until you are ready

Everyone is different; thyroxine takes a good 6-8 weeks to stabilise and you may not be on the right dose yet.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers
