Hi, I have had a lot of blood tests recently due to extreme tiredness. I've felt tired in the past when I've been anaemic but it now feels it is at the worst it has ever been.
I'm 29 and having to lie down in the middle of the day, and I feel like it is starting to impact on my life because I can't do everything I want to do as I'm just too tired. Also I know if I do something one day I will be too exhausted to do anything the next day.
I am currently anaemic but my iron levels are improving with iron tablets, so I feel like that is managed at the moment. I also have low white blood cells which are currently being monitored, no explanation for that really, I think they've always been on the low side.
But I've been told I have subclinical hypothyroidism. And I just feel so upset and frustrated with it as my gp has acknowledged that this is probably the cause of my symptoms, yet has said they can only treat when my TSH levels are 10. And for now they will just test every 6 to 12 months to monitor it.
My TSH is currently 7.2 and my T4 is 13.8. So it is my TSH that is the issue.
I understand they must have their reasons for not treating it until it gets to a certain point, but I don't know what else to do. I feel awful, it is impacting my day to day life, but apparently there is nothing they can do.
Does anyone have any experience with this. Is it just a case of waiting for it to get worse before they will treat or are there other options available?
Thanks.
