That's it really. Been exhausted for so long and liver function tests consistently raised for 6 months. Lots of other symptoms too. Dr thinks perhaps autoimmune disease. Got to wait 10 days for the result and I'm worried.

Do you mean the Anti-mitochonrial Antibody test (AMA). I've had three positive AMA tests in the past 10 years, strongly positive. It was an incidental find and I've had my liver functions checked annually since then. Chances are that I'll go on to develop Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, but I choose not to worry about the future. If you do have it, it's a very slow condition and there are several drugs which can make your symptoms better and ultimately a liver transplant is a life-saver.

Thanks for your reply dotdotdotmustdash. I hope you are feeling well at the moment?

Just want the results back as I'm worrying about them.

How are your LFTs now?

I'm ageing rapidly, now 49 but feel 60 with lots of joint pain and stiffness, along with constant fatigue. My lfts are steadily rising each year, but not enough to refer me back to the specialists. PBC is a disease where the symptoms don't always correlate with the blood tests unfortunately. There's a good charity called the PBC foundation which has lots of good information about the disease, if you do go on to be diagnosed with it. www.pbcfoundation.org.uk/
