Weird symptoms

Hello

I haven't been diagnosed with an auto immune condition, so I hope no one minds me posting here.

I can't work out whether I'm just getting old (43), unfit and tired or whether there's something going on. Feel like such a hypochondriac.

Apologies for the long, tedious list, but this is what's bothering me:

  • Nausea and stomach discomfort / indigestion (had endoscopy recently, nothing to see except minor hiatus hernia)
  • Stiff, slightly swollen, painful joints - especially in fingers, feet and lower back
  • Clumsiness, always dropping things
  • Blurred vision (not every day)
  • Dizzy, spaced out feeling (not every day)
  • Poor memory, concentration and word recall
  • Bone-crushing tiredness
  • Twitching (really violent, persistent nerve twitches in various parts of my body and face - has eased in the last few months, but went on for over a year. Saw neurologist who did physical exam and wasn't worried)
  • Really sore, tender areas of skin but no visible irritation (sometimes on thighs, currently around back of shoulder / armpit)
  • Anxiety and low mood / not wanting to do anything
  • Zero interest in sex
  • Sudden menopause (periods just stopped 2 years ago)

Despite all this I am functioning and mostly not a quivering wreck. I have 2 children in primary school and work full time. Tend to just get on with it at work, but just want to collapse in a heap when I get home. Feeling fed up and sorry for my partner and kids, who bear the brunt of me feeling rubbish all the time.

So, within the realms of normal for a busy 40-something year old woman or does it ring any bells / sound like something to anyone?

I'm going back to the drs later this week, but |I don't know what to say.

Thank you...

Might just be the menopause. It can cause all of that. It could also be fibromyalgia. Just tell the doc all of your symptoms
I hope they help you

Thanks Dodie

I've mentioned most of the above to the doctor, but they don't seem that interested. When I've asked whether menopause or anxiety could be the cause of all of it they seem a bit baffled... They seem to latch onto one symptom but not the whole picture.

Have you had blood tests for your hormone levels for the menopause? Also get your doc to do a full blood test for things like iron, kidney function, liver function etc. I also had one for vitamin D and mine was very low so I have started Vit D supplements.

Yeah, hormone levels back up the menopause theory.
I've had a few blood tests but am not exactly sure what they were testing for. Iron and B12 were on the low side but no mention of anything else. I've been taking some OTC supplements.
Drs seemed ambivalent about whether I should take HRT. I tried one type (Everol Conti patches) for a few months, but didn't feel any different.
Maybe it's normal to feel this crap...

I would look up fibromyalgia if I were you. A lot of those symptoms are similar to mine and I have fibromyalgiaas well as menopause symptoms. I hope the doc helps a bit more. I think you have to keep going back till they listen to you. I did. Maybe you need to see a rheumatologist.

What can be done about fibromyalgia?
