Referred to Rheumatologist

Hi, so I have IBD (I am reluctant to say UC as my large bowel has been removed completely and I am left with a j-pouch) and had joint pain intermittently over the years but I have now had constant joint pain for the last 2-3 weeks. Had a blood test and my rheumatoid levels were 83% so my dr is referring me as above.

Does anyone know what I should expect?

Hi - in my experience, they go over your med history and give you the once over medical, then explain the options open to you.

I would write everything down in a list and highlight the important bits. It is always difficult to remember everything you need to in such a short space of time.

Write everything down in a diary with the position of the pain and the pain level. It's what helped diagnose my 'rare' form of arthritis.
Rheumatologist will probably want to check your joints over (wrists, fingers, knees, ankles and toes) to see if they can feel/see inflammation.
Good luck with your appointment
