Hashimotos / thyroid issues

I've just had a blood test done which came back with two out of range results - slightly elevated TSH (4.6) And TGAB antibodies was 131.
I suspected hashimotos, does this indicate it is? I'm seeing gp tomorrow (had blood test done privately so I could include the antibodies), do I need to ask for a referral to endocrinologist?

Hopeful bumping in case some thyroid experts are out there!

Morning Okite, yes, high antibodies does suggest Hashimotos. I've been fobbed off so many times that in the end I asked to be referred to an endocrinologist privately. This is when I began receiving proper treatment and after some previous pregnancy losses, I was finally able to carry two babies safely to term under their care.
I now just see my GP, who never checks antibodies and sometimes takes me off levothyroxine , but I have tried to educate myself and feel in control of it.
Look at diet and how that can help. But definitely ask to see an endo.

Hi I saw you're being referred on your other thread. I do hope you get a trial of thyroxine. The below links are very good and an endo would respect them as both are linked to endocrinologists in the uk. (some other sites unfortunately don't have their 'seal' of approval). The BTF have a help line you can call, I joined and get quarterly magazines. I find them very helpful and they pass letters to endos to answer.

I got a referral to an endo and we have private healthcare so hopefully won't take too long.
