Hi all,

Appreciate this is an Aussie/NZ board not Fiji but hoping someone might have experience in office workweek in Fiji. I'm going to be working in Fiji for a few months from April and have no idea what to wear! I am assuming linen dresses etc. But any advice most welcome!

Not from Aus or NZ but have worked in Fiji.

Assuming that you'll be in Suva or Nadi (i.e. one of the bigger "cities" rather than rural villages), there were no restrictions or questions about what I wore (unlike some countries) though I tend to always have my shoulders covered and my skirts/dresses to/below my knee anyway (not a Fiji specific thing) which was certainly what my Fijian colleagues were doing.

Wearing slacks wasn't common for women in the office but wasn't generally frowned upon unless we were working with/at the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs (Fijian Indigenous Ministry). There, everyone (including men) was expected to wear a sulu or sarong (long). In the Ministry building, they have sarongs for you to wear if needed.

It is a great time to wear your colourful clothes.

Linen shift dresses. Linen wide legged trousers. Cigarette pants. Manically what you would wear to work on a hot Aus or NZ day.
