19yr old DS selling car asap in Auckland before returning to the UK

DS19 has a 2010 Nissan Tiilda that he has used over the past 6 months whilst working in NZ.

He will need to sell it to one of the ‘We Buy Any Car’ companies based in Auckland (where he is flying from). Too much hassle with Marketplace or Trade Me. Just need to get rid really.

The car is probably worth 3.5-4 NZD if selling privately and obviously the quick sale companies will be nowhere near that price, that’s ok….but….. any recommendations please of hassle free/ best companies?

(Auckland because that’s where he will be flying from).

Thank you so much in advance!

I’ve never heard of those kinds of companies so can’t advise on that approach specifically. But Turners is big and well-established so it would be worth taking the car to them and see what they say.

When does he fly out? Trademe doesn’t have to be slow or a hassle if he prices it to sell and does a detailed listing.

i sold a car a few years ago at the Ellerslie car fair which is on every Sunday. Could be worth a try.

Thank you so much - there is a Turners not far from the airport and very close to a bus route. Thanks again.

I’m in Aus so can’t advise on company names but just a word of caution. I sold an old car through one of these companies, agreed a price after sending photos. When the guy came to pick up he asked if I would accept a lower price. I said no, price has been agreed and if that wasn’t what he was paying no deal. Money was to be transferred before he took the car so we both stood on the street while he sent payment using his phone. He asked for the keys and said he wanted to get the car on the truck, I said not until payment hits my account. Funnily enough he then did something else online - it was quite clear the payment had not been sent when he said, five minutes later money was in my account so I gave him the keys. Not saying they are all dodgy but make sure your son gets the money before he hands over the car!
