I wish nothing but the worst for their killer.

It is just hideous isn't it? So young.

Not sure it helped that the Mardi Gras have tried to 'ban' police officers from marching in the parade this year. Couldn't believe my eyes at that- it helps how exactly? Grrr.

Those poor lads. There was some reporting in The Age which had the police saying they wanted to have the parents reunited with their children, such a reminder that they are always babies to their parents (in the best sense).

They looked so damn happy and full of life. The guy was a fruitcake. The weird photos on private planes. The selfies with stars. He was one evil man, and poor Jesse had the misfortune to run into him, and then Luke was killed too.
The whole system of checking out weapons obviously needs a serious overhaul.
How can you check it out at one station and then return it days later to another?
And the police commisioner isn't covering herself in glory.
"crime of passion" "grateful " to the killer. She needs to stop speaking.
The parents of the killer is a whole other issue.

The NSW Police Commissioner, Karen Webb, has botched this badly.

She must have done 'media training' at some point you'd think? Yet she comes out with clearly objectionable comments... and follows up with "Haters gonna Hate?" Sheesh.

So much love to their families, I cannot imagine.

It’s a tragic event. What I couldn’t get my head around though was a LGBTQ group getting air time about this being a hate crime perpetrated against the LGBTQ community. I could completely understand that if the couple had been murdered for being gender diverse, but that is not the case (as I understand it). They were two gay men who were killed by an ex-boyfriend of one of the men, who also happens to be a police officer unless I have misunderstood it. Just finding some of the messaging around this really confusing. Irrespective, it doesn’t negate the tragedy where two seemingly lovely young men have lost their lives.

Mardi Gras are being ridiculous banning police, but honestly “Haters gonna hate”?? Really not her finest hour. And the police seriously and urgently need to review the psychological screening they do during the recruitment process before letting people run around with a gun.

This is true, and as far as I can tell they weren't even boyfriends. Maybe a brief meetup. Nothing to do with sexuality. Sadly , a crazy stalker. And, what a surprise, a MAN. NSW police really need to sort out there weapons issuing. Total disgrace. Also that there was no response to Jesse's emergency phone call.
