This does not seem like it will end well.

I agree, so much confusing information out there 😢

TerrorAustralis · 08/02/2024 14:01

Unfortunately, I think you’re right.

marshmallowburn · 08/02/2024 21:37

Her DH staying in the car was such odd behaviour at the forest. The poor daughter.

I’m not sure you can read too much into that. People behave in strange ways under extreme stress.

The police would not have wanted him to get out of the car in case he tainted a potential crime scene.

Police probably already have a good idea what likely happened.

marshmallowburn · 09/02/2024 04:40

Yeah maybe. It just looked very odd. He's just chatting with the police officer in the other car. I'd be running and screaming through the forest if my DH was missing . We are all different I guess.

It will all come out in the wash and no good comes from speculating- remember poor Cleo Smith’s stepdad.

Dustyblue · 09/02/2024 08:36

This has been playing on my mind too. Her DH is behaving strangely but people do under stress.

More interesting is the woman who was previously attacked in the same area. She had headphones on and was approached from behind then smashed over the head. Will try to find a link, I think she's ok.

Also Samantha was known for running on the road. It's a long shot but someone could have hit her, panicked and disposed of her body.

It' be awesome if she turned up ok, but I really don't think that will happen.

marshmallowburn · 10/02/2024 08:11

I think I read that the video of her on cctv was not actually her. Is that right? What a stuff up if that's true. Would have sent searchers in the wrong direction.

Such sad news. 22 y.o. Charged with her murder, but no body.
Almost 5 weeks.

Dustyblue · 12/03/2024 03:06

All a bit hush hush isn't it? Goodness knows how the police found him, or how the poor woman died let alone where she is. I guess it might offer some closure to the family but not much. It's so sad.

HoppingPavlova · 12/03/2024 03:23

I’d say while well meaning people have been stomping all over a forest because ‘the police aren’t doing anything’, the police were not stomping all over the forest as they had leads they couldn’t publicise for fear of spooking/not progressing/having evidence compromised and were very busy dealing with the matter - which has led to the arrest.

My uneducated guess would be either CCTV/dashcam/security footage (police were appealing for the public to come forward with any footage) or pings from mobile phone towers. Mobile phone data is how they caught Cleo Smith’s kidnapper.

Dustyblue · 12/03/2024 08:42

Yes that makes sense. Amazing what they can do by following phone data. Even though they haven't found the actual phone.

There have been a few articles suggesting that the massive public search was causing more problems than solving them. In that, so many pieces of potential 'evidence' were being taken in and swamping the cops with busy-work.

Hopefully they got the right result with this arrest. Poor family.
