Optus outage

How did the outage impact your day?

My work phone is Optus and I work in public health so now way too many people have my personal number. Tomorrow I need to go back to them and ask most of them to delete it as my work phone stays with the role I.e. if I am on leave my cover person has it so I can properly disconnect.

Thankfully works EFPOS machines were on another network so could still buy morning tea treats 😀

Was very grateful to have a different provider!

We had a video telehealth appointment with the Royal Children's booked yesterday & I was panicking it'd be cancelled, but thankfully they're not with Optus either, phew.

All our community workers work phones are on Optus which meant no ability to communicate with patients or to use safety apps. Lots of doubling up for safety and personal phones being used.

We lost phone service but weirdly our NBN stayed up all day.

Have Optus for home internet and usually work from home so he to go into the office to get some work done that was needed for the day - offices were ok.

All the customer service staff were unable to work as their phone system was reliant on Optus so no incoming or outgoing calls. So they moved as many people to the late shift as possible.

First time in my life I have said 'thank god I'm with Telstra'. I was fine and my work was mainly ok.

Ha, yes Telstra revelling in not being the absolute worst for a change.

Can't help but notice the Aust CEO of Optus is copping flack NOT just for the obvious fuck-up, but the word "female" keeps appearing. Urrrgh. Would the media be saying "The male CEO of Optus says..." ?

@Dustyblue I hadn't noticed that, I'll have to keep an ear out.

I was driving with the radio on today and Harvey Norman had an advertisement that they are supporting Optus. Was very odd, as most HarveyNorman radio adverts are. Bet he has a lot of shares in the company.

@Missingthegore Think you might be onto something there!

I'm in a small town (5000-odd people) with a Telstra outlet/shop, and that's it. In these parts Telstra is the 'most reliable" and the Optus outlet cleared out years ago.

However, we've a tiny Harvey Norman shop, and it seems they're the Optus provider in town. Only way to get an Optus-locked phone and/or service is HN.

I smell shenangians 😎
