Cal Wilson

I was completely blindsided by the news this morning that Cal Wilson died. She always seemed so genuinely lovely, as well as being incredibly funny.

I rarely get very upset by celebrity deaths, but I shed a tear for Cal this morning. 53 is no age to die.

Oh my gosh. This is so sad. I hadn’t heard this until reading your post.

Pocodaku · 11/10/2023 02:38

Oh no! This is sad news.

I had a little weep for her too. And her poor husband & son.

We saw Cal live at our local Arts Centre (we live rural) a few years ago. The Melb International Comedy festival does a 'roadshow' that she headed up that year. I think she was actually a director of the festival too.

Utterly wonderful performer, she just lit the place up. So very tragic.

She was not much older than me, and her son is only a couple of years older than my son, so that make it feel a little more personal.

She had such a wonderful vibrant energy.

Really sad news.

Totally shocked! Seemed like a ball of healthy positive energy. So sad for her husband and son.

@TerrorAustralis Same here, she's a bit older than me, my son's a bit older than hers.

I loved the portrait of her in the Archibald Prize, and the fact she made the mad head piece.

Those headpieces were utterly wonderful! I love the one with a My Little Pony.

Shocking news. She always seemed such a lovely person. Far too young, and devastating for her family. R.I.P. Cal

Still can't wrap my head around that she was hosting Australian Bake Off a few months ago . Love to her family

CallItLoneliness · 13/10/2023 07:07

I remember seeing her touring NZ during O Week when I was a student, and always thought I must see her at the comedy festival one year. I was more affected than I would have guessed to read of her death, and really feel for those she left behind...gone much too soon.

Dustyblue · 13/10/2023 09:59

Oh, I can almost imagine O week in NZ with her there! She really did tour around a lot didn't she?

Such a bundle of energy. She was teeny tiny in real life, like an adorable little pixie with auburn/red/pink hair.

A form of aggressive/quick cancer apparently. Urrghh. Life sucks sometimes.

TupperJen · 14/10/2023 09:40

So sad, but what an impact her positivity and humour made to us all 💔
