PBC10 · 02/10/2023 10:02

Hi (PHOTO)

i need your help!!!
i have had this for 2 months, I have gone to a GP several times because of it and even to an ENT

the ENT told me it is my mucos membrane that is irritated and it will go away
GP had no idea what it is.
it is painful and stingy and they come and go within a week and new ones appear.

recently they are big and it doesn’t seem like they want to disappear

anyone had this?

See your dentist. Recurrent oral ulcers can be due to a number of causes. Trauma, from brushing, chemical/allergy type reactions, vitamin deficiency such as vit B group also some underlying health problems such as Crohn’s disease can present with large round ulcers.
Cancars are associated with stds, if you suspect std you need to be tested.
If you get the ulcers in the same place every time it could also be down to a habit, sucking sweets, chewing your lip. It’s not apparent on your photo but if you have lip fillers they can alter the position of the lip and the bit that is supposed to be wet dries out making it more prone to ulceration.

The dentist i saw didn’t see it at that time as it wasn’t prominent
ill have to go back now that its there..

i tested vit deficiency (B12) it was not deficient .
they just appeared all of a sudden
no stsd nor lip filler

yeah it is around that area only :( different sizes , sometimes more than 1

It looks sore OP. Angrymum has given you some good advice. I started getting multiple ulcers in my mouth after menopause. They come and go, but each episode can last a week. I have many allergies (anaphylaxis as well as less series ones) and multiple ‘intolerances’. And not sure exactly what causes an outbreak at times. Sometimes, just being run down or very stressed about something will cause it.

One thing I know I have to be careful of is what brand of toothpaste I’m using. I have to use the ordinary Colgate total (which tastes foul) . The oral b brand causes. ulcers as do ‘pearl drops’ and a few others. If you are using the same toothpaste perhaps the makers have changed ingredients, just a thought?

Have you had an oral swab (swab the ulcer too) sent off for testing?

PBC10 · 03/10/2023 11:27

Thanks for your feedback
I changed to sensodyne as I have sensitive teeth.
they have not taken a swab
they did like a zinc, vitc ,b12 blood count etc test which was normal, just a little low ferritin. But i have always had it

i am in my mid 30s , and this came during my antibiotics treatment ( which was unnecessary i think 20days) i did take lots of vitamins and probiotics during the treatment but it appeared and kept coming back :(

are all your bloods normal?

the ent just told me, your mucus membrane is irritated and use oralbase Kenalog 2 a day for 2 weeks
it is so painful and stingy:((

I get common or garden ulcers a lot. I’m not sure if that is what you have, but for reference:

I was told to avoid any toothpaste with laural sulphate.

Mine flairs up with fizzy drinks or any sparkling wine inc. Champagne.

I also have to avoid adding salt to food. Salty chips is a no no. I have switched to LoSalt. Same for crisps.

I use a chlorhexidine digluconate mouthwash regularly (corsodyl).

I used to use bongela but have switched to oragel.

PBC10 · 06/10/2023 06:38

I use Kenalog Oralbase for a few days and the worst has gone away but the ENT adviced to keep taking it for 14 days

i just hope when i stop
that it wont come back 😅

Coeliac disease can cause ulcers. It’s called Dermatitis Herpetiformis. Your doctor can do a blood test and the treatment is to stop eating gluten.

Parakeetamol · 06/10/2023 06:49

My dd had recurrent ulcers but high B12, I switched the B12 to a different form and they went away. I think the initial high B12 result was because the body wasn't absorbing it properly.

PBC10 · 06/10/2023 19:39

I have done a blood test for gluten and I’m not intolerant
and my b12 is within normal range
i am confused because i really about that too

my zinc, vit c is good as well. Only thing is but i have always had lower ferritin

Kaill · 06/10/2023 19:57

Was your blood test for gluten intolerance? Or was it an IgA test for coeliac disease? They are not the same.

PBC10 · 07/10/2023 01:09

this one is the one i had @Kaill

See a dentist. DPs lingering mouth ulcer turned out to be cancer.

PBC10 · 07/10/2023 06:28

Did they never go away? Or did they go away and keep coming back?

i saw an ENT

I get a lp of mouth ulcers and mouth issues. I have crohn's disease.

BusterGonad · 07/10/2023 08:16

Alot

PBC10 · 08/10/2023 02:26

There is like a white patch circle now
the irritation is gone.

I have been putting Kenalog orobase paste for 1 week 2 a day.

not sure if it will come back after i stop with the Kenalog orobase (cortisone) and if that white spot is normal after having treatment on the area

Great… i got one on my tongue now.. 🤯 just can’t catch a break from this crap

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 10/10/2023 03:20

The tongue ones are by far the worst. The worst pain I've ever had.

GreeneKnowe · 10/10/2023 03:44

Thrush? (especially as it started when you were on antibiotics)

PBC10 · 10/10/2023 06:28

Whats your cause of this issue? Have you seen ENT? Or a specialist what did they say?

i take probiotics but doesn’t work
